Data Deletion

Your privacy and data control matter to us

1. Important: We Don't Store User Data on Servers

🔐 No Server Storage Policy

BuyMusic does NOT store any user data on our servers. This means:

Your listening history never leaves your device (except for temporary processing)
We have no user databases to delete from
All your data is stored locally in your browser only
Data deletion is mostly about clearing your local browser storage

Here's what data exists and where it's stored:

Browser Storage (Local Only)

YouTube and Spotify access tokens (stored locally in your browser)
User preferences and settings (stored locally)
Search history and favorites (stored locally only)
Server Storage: None - we maintain no user databases

Temporary Processing Only

Music metadata for price comparison (processed and discarded immediately)
Search queries and results (not stored, processed in real-time)
API calls to music stores (temporary, no storage)
Duration: Processed for seconds, then discarded

2. Self-Service Data Deletion

You can immediately delete most of your data yourself using these methods:

Clear Browser Data

Removes all locally stored tokens and preferences

Disconnect YouTube

Revoke YouTube access and delete tokens

Disconnect Spotify

Revoke Spotify access and delete tokens

3. Platform Data Deletion

To fully remove access to your streaming data, you should also revoke permissions on the source platforms:

YouTube/Google

Remove BuyMusic's access to your YouTube data:

Go to Google Account Permissions
Find "BuyMusic" in the list of connected apps
Click "Remove Access"

Spotify

Remove BuyMusic's access to your Spotify data:

Go to Spotify Connected Apps
Find "BuyMusic" in the list
Click "Remove Access"

4. Contact Us (Optional)

Since we don't store user data on servers, local deletion (above) removes everything. However, if you have concerns or questions about data handling, you can contact us:

5. What Happens After Deletion

Immediate Effects

You'll be logged out of BuyMusic immediately
Your local browser data will be cleared
You'll lose access to personalized recommendations

Server-Side Deletion Timeline

Within 24 hours: Active data removed from systems
Within 30 days: Data removed from backups
Legal retention: Some data may be retained for legal compliance

6. Contact and Support

If you have questions about data deletion or need assistance with the process:

Response time: We aim to respond within 72 hours
Note: Since we don't store user data on servers, most requests are informational
Local deletion: Use the buttons above for immediate data removal

7. Re-using the Service

After data deletion, you can still use BuyMusic by reconnecting your YouTube and/or Spotify accounts. However, you'll start fresh with no previous preferences or history.
